Lent day 1 reflection – 17 Feb 2021

Lent 2021 reflection

by Donn D’souza

My dearest brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus,

Once again we come together to this time of great hope and mercy and grace in Jesus.

I remember from the past, where Lent for me used to be a time of great plans to give up things for Jesus. I remember making plans to go forward with my plans for the year and it always became more about how to use Lent for my benefit rather than ask Jesus what he wants from me.

That is why this Lent and this Ash Wednesday we must allow God to decide for us how this Lenten season will proceed.

If God is to be the decider, it practically requires one main and decisive decision for Jesus, from our side.

A decision to spend quality time in prayer with Him!

Once we make this decision, then we must quickly and prayerfully decide a place and a time to pray and seal this decision by actually sitting with him in prayer. Doing this will open all our doors to Jesus and to a Jesus-filled life.

As Jesus says,

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
– Revelations 3:20

Have a wonderful, Jesus-filled season.
