Lent day 17 reflection – 05 March 2021

by Donn D’souza

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus,

Today we look at the Gospel and what Jesus has to say to us. He says,

“Have you never read in the scriptures, the stone which the builder rejected, the same has become the cornerstone. By the Lord this has been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes.” – Matthew 21:42

My dear brothers and sisters, throughout the Bible, we see that if we use our own wisdom, without consulting God, it does not bear fruit, It cannot bear fruit; in fact, we may end up rejecting Jesus Himself.

Now we may tell ourselves, “I will never reject Jesus, I will never let go of Him.” But so many times in our lives, we have ended up doing just that, rejecting His Word, and by rejecting His Word, we have actually rejected Jesus.

Today making Jesus the cornerstone means that He decides which way is forward and which way is back. He decides what is worth building, He decides what is worth doing. In fact, He decides everything, and we obey Him in love.

If you have a compass at home today, I want to encourage you to take out your compass. For most people, when they take out their compass it points north. But when we take out our compass, it points at Jesus alone.

Let’s make a concrete decision today, not to rush into anything without consulting Jesus. Not to focus on anything without focusing on Jesus first. As the Bible says, call on me and I WILL answer you. Call on Jesus today and HE WILL answer you!

Have a blessed and Jesus-filled day!
