Lent day 20 reflection – 08 March 2021

by Donn D’souza

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus,

Today we look at the Gospel, where Jesus was rejected at Nazareth. Now Jesus, when He went to Nazareth, He spoke to the Jews. And He told them that God heals many people who are not Jews. He quotes from the history of Israel. He speaks also of Naaman the Syrian.

It is so easy to listen to God when He says something that’s sweet, that’s soothing to our ears. But it’s very difficult when Jesus speaks the truth that pierces our hearts.

Now what if Jesus came to you today and said that if His grace, that was given to you, if it was given to the gentiles or people of other faith, they would have probably profited more than you? What if He told you that people of other faiths loved Him more than you do? What would it do to your soul? Would you be angry with Jesus? Would you reject Him? Or would you lovingly surrender and ask Him to come in?

If you accept the full truth of what Jesus has to say, then He will come into your heart. If you reject Him, then He will pass you by as He did with the Jews. What a tragedy that would be!

What is your decision today?

Have a blessed and Jesus-filled day.
