Lent day 25 reflection – 13 March 2021

by Donn D’souza

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus,

Today we look at what God has to say to us in the book of Hosea. He says,

Come let us return to Yahweh. He has rend us, and He will heal us. He has struck us, and He will bind up our wounds. After two days He will revive us and on the third day, He will raise us up and we shall live in His presence. Let us know, let us strive to know Yahweh, that He will come as certain as the dawn. He will come to us like a shower, like the rain of springtime to the earth.”  -Hosea 6:1-3

My dear brothers and sisters, God encourages us in the book of Hosea to return to Him. What a beautiful call it is!

The Bible then says,

He has torn us and He will heal us, He has struck us and now He will bind up our wounds.” – Hosea 6:1

What does this mean? It does not mean that God has struck us on purpose. It means that because of our sin, God has allowed harm to happen to us, so that we know that only God can heal us. He hastens to come and heal us and bind up our wounds.

After that the Word of God refers to God working on us for two days and then it says,

“On the third day, He will raise us up and we will live in His presence.” -Hosea 6:2

Wow! What a brilliant promise!

Through the book of Hosea, God reminds us of exactly what happened to Jesus on the cross. We may encounter a Good Friday, where things don’t look good, but when we end up dying with Jesus, He then works on our lives for two days and on the third day we rise up with Him. We live in His presence.

If we allow this process to happen, these three days of God doing something amazing in our lives, it will become a springtime for us, meaning that everything will be new. Peace will be restored in our lives, provision will come in every area.

Provision means, spiritual needs will be taken care of. Healing will come, deliverance will come, our financial needs will be taken care of, everything will be new in Jesus. His promise of springtime requires just one act of faith from our side.

I want to encourage you today to say it with me right now, “Jesus, I believe in your promise of springtime, I am waiting to walk with you.
