Lent day 3 reflection – 19 Feb 2021

Lent 2021

by Donn D’souza

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

The journey that Jesus calls us to is one of discipleship. A closer walk with him. Not a journey where one stranger follows another. But a purposeful following of the one we love.

I would like to focus on 2 aspects of discipleship today.

One aspect is allowing God to transform us and simultaneously repenting for our sins thus making God your priority.

The second aspect is learning the Word of God and living by it with Godly commitment.

Both these aspects need us to come to God exclusively in prayer, make an exclusive commitment to Jesus and make an exclusive decision to follow him alone. These exclusive decisions will result in God being our priority always and a renewed desire to study and obey the Word of God.

We literally need to say this now – “Jesus, I allow you full access into my life. I allow you full control of my life. I will not give in to my own reasoning, but I will follow your perspective in all things.”

After saying this, take your Bible and read his Word. You could start with the daily Mass readings.

The moment we do this, take this decision, when we sit for prayer, God will become our only concern. And a deeper communication channel between you and God will open up. An exclusive channel of communication which will personally fill you with love and joy and it will result in us rushing back to God in prayer the next day and the next day and the next. Prayer will never get boring.

What are we waiting for! Jesus is waiting to make us exclusively his!
