Lent day 4 reflection – 20 Feb 2021

by Donn D’souza

My dearest brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus,

I quote from:

Zechariah 8:14 – 14 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Just as I had determined to bring disaster on you and showed no pity when your ancestors angered me,” says the Lord Almighty, 15 “so now I have determined to do good again to Jerusalem and Judah. Do not be afraid. 16 These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts; 17 do not plot evil against each other, and do not love to swear falsely. I hate all this,” declares the Lord.

I love the part where God says, now I am determined to do good! This Lent and every season, we are the recipients of the goodness of the Lord. This means that the Lord’s goodness will result in practical and daily miracles for us. Grace to face our fears. Provision for our needs. So much more!

But the Lord needs us to make an immediate decision regarding the following:
– Do not plot evil of your neighbour – even in the slightest way.
– Do not love to lie or swear falsely
– Give true judgements in your courts – even extends to what we do in our families. Our judgements have to be truthful and just towards family and friends and enemies.
– Speak the truth

Let us look at this list again. Let us ask God for grace to eliminate sin in these areas. With God’s grace, improvement and transformation in these areas is possible right away as we make a decision for Jesus, now!

Lord Jesus, I confess my sins in these areas and make a decision today and right now to change, by your grace.

Brothers and sisters, as we do this, God’s determination to bless us, as promised in the scripture is already taking shape, it’s already flowing in us and our families.

Have a blessed time receiving his abundant blessings!
