Lent day 9 reflection – 25 Feb 2021

by Donn D’souza

My dear Brother and sisters in Christ Jesus,

In the Bible in the book of Esther, the word of God says this about Esther.

14  She lay prostrate upon the ground, together with her handmaids, from morning until evening, and said: “God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob, blessed are you. Help me, who am alone and have no help but you, 15  for I am taking my life in my hand.

Esther who was the queen, and someone who had the entire country looking at her in admiration and who had the approval of the king, still chose God above everything. She never once considered a wordly route to resolve her problems but rather went to the Lord in humble repentance and love. She literally have herself no other option but God.

Many times in our lives, when we are faced with problems, we allow other worldy solutions to take first priority. Or we travel a middle path, little God, little world.

If we really notice, in the Bible, among the people who loved God, there’s a clear focus. They put God first in everything. No matter whether they were ordinary people or Kings or Queens. This is the true path of success for us today. God first.

In the Gospels Jesus says ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door shall be opened to you. This promise is always answered, but is answered in greater measure when we put GOD FIRST.

I want to invite us today. To put God first. As we read the story of Esther, in the end God gives her a resounding victory, not only for herself, but through her for the entire Jewish people.

Whatever we are going through today, put God first. Tell him these words and then in our daily actions let us ask ourselves, in this situation, what would Jesus do!

Have a blessed and Jesus-filled day.
