The Living Word

Bible_BOL

“YAHWEH” is a name formed from the name of the trinitarian God “I AM” (Ex 3:15), as it was considered too sacred even to pronounce. Jesus, the Word of God says if you have seen me you have seen the Father too (Jn 14:9). He says the Words that proceed from My mouth are the Spirit (Jn 6:63). The primary characteristic of the Word of God is that it is creative beyond imagination. Therefore, the expression of the identity of God is most becomes most profound in Jesus’ words when He said “in the beginning was The Word, The Word was with God and The Word was God” (Jn 1:1). Therefore, to purchase or ransom God’s most precious creation, He couldn’t but use the most powerful weapon in His armoury… a weapon that CANNOT FAIL… The Word, the became flesh and dwelt among us (Jn 1:14).

God Speaks

God has been speaking to us continually from the time he created man. He came to fellowship with His beloved creature, man, in the cool of the evening every day (Gen 3:8). Even after man was banished from the garden of Eden, he came to speak with man (Gen 4:6-7). He continued to speak with man through chosen men – Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, etc, etc. He went on to give us the Ten Commandments and said “Make sure you obey the Lord your God completely. Be careful to obey all his commands. I’m giving them to you today. If you do these things, the Lord will honour you more than all the other nations on earth. If you obey the Lord your God, here are the blessings that will come to you and remain with you (Deut 28:1-2)

Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. – Heb 4:12

The Word of God is not only alive, it is active too. Being active means that it is constantly in motion. Being sharper any double-edged sword (Eph 6:17), able to pierce or cut into our hearts (Acts 2:37). Even our thoughts and intends remain exposed before it. The Word of the scriptures are very different from that of any other book. While the words of a normal book are lifeless, giving short-lived excitement, the Word of God IS The Spirit and they ARE life (Jn 6:63). The very purpose of coming of The Word of God in flesh is to defeat the thief who comes to steal, to kill and to destroy and to give us life and that in abundance.

The Word is Alive

Yes, the Word is fully alive, waiting for us to read or hear, to fan all the gifts invested and dormant within us to a flame… a raging fire (2 Tim 1:6-7, Rom 10:17). It has power to transform, to heal, to deliver people of God (Ps 107:20). Many of us who have dared to use this Sword of the Spirit have experienced the great power of the living Word as when Ezekiel was asked to speak to the dry bones (Eze 37:1-10).

Our loving God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit has granted us this great weapon to be used. All those who use, will reap of its fruit (Pro 18:21). But those who do not use it will never know its power (Mk 12:24). People of God, I urge you to KNOW the Scriptures and its power, for it is like a great fire that envelopes us for protection (Zech 2:5), but consumes the enemy and his works. It also is like a hammer that breaks hard rocks in our lives, stony hearts, even stones in our bodies (urinary tracts & gall bladder) into pieces (Jer 23:29).

The living Word engulfs the one who holds it in the heart, to keep the person from sin (Ps 119:9,11) and gives light to our paths even in our darkest moments and on pitch dark roads and valleys of shadow of death. The living Word has been my refuge through my life, strengthening me when weak, delivering when under attack, protecting when in danger, lifting me up when I am down, healing when sick, very real help in times of troubles. He is everything to me. In fact, I cannot survive without Him with me… in me, even for a day. Every knee shall bow before Him, mountains quake and earth trembles before Him (Nah 1:5). If He dwells richly with us (Col 3:16), we become like Him… people of great and extraordinary power… supernatural. In fact, Jesus Himself tells us everyone who has received the Word, The Father has called them gods (Jn 10:35).

Sisters and brothers in Christ, the Word of God is living and active, more powerful than all human understanding. He upholds the entire universe by His one Word of power. May Col 3:16 take flesh in each one of us, as we continue to put off the old man and put on the new man.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as you teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. – Col 3:16

Wishing you all blessing of our God and Father of our Lord Jesus.
